The House of Representatives has intervened in the ongoing dispute between Dangote Refinery and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
The House of Representatives Joint Committee on Petroleum has waded into the escalating rift between Dangote Refinery and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). The committee has summoned both parties to appear before it to explain the nature of their disagreement and find a lasting solution. The dispute centers on regulatory issues, pricing mechanisms, and allegations of sabotage in the downstream petroleum sector. Aliko Dangote has accused NMDPRA officials of corruption and working against the national interest, while the regulatory body maintains it is simply enforcing industry standards. Lawmakers expressed concern that the public spat could undermine investor confidence in Nigeria's petroleum sector.
